A major free medical camp was organised on July 19, 2026, at Sri Manickam Mudaliar Mahal, Tiruppur, bringing together healthcare professionals and community leaders to promote accessible and preventive healthcare.
The initiative was organised by the V.R.A. Manickam Mudaliar Foundation, in association with Erode Cancer Centre, Tiruppur Chest Hospital, Achuthra Eye Care, and Tiruppur Nura… Hospital.
The programme brought together multiple medical specialties under one roof, giving members of the public an opportunity to receive consultations, screening and medical guidance.
Comprehensive Medical Services
The camp featured services in several key areas, including:
- General medical consultation and health screening
- Cancer screening and preventive health checks
- Chest and respiratory health services
- Eye examinations and vision-related screening
- Dental consultation and treatment guidance
- Women’s preventive healthcare
A notable feature of the camp was the availability of a free Pap smear test for women, which was announced as having a value of ₹2,000. The initiative highlighted the importance of regular screening and early detection of cervical cancer.
The camp also included screening and consultation for common health concerns such as diabetes, blood pressure, heart-related problems, respiratory conditions, thyroid issues and other general medical conditions.
Public Participation and Leadership
The programme was attended by senior public representatives, including K.A. Sengottaiyan, former Minister for School Education and Government of Tamil Nadu, and M. Vijayabaskar, former Minister for Health and Family Welfare. K.K. Ananth Mohan, MLA, attended as the chief guest.
The event highlighted the value of bringing specialised medical services directly to the community, particularly through preventive screening and early diagnosis.
