Erode Cancer Centre, in association with Government Headquarters Hospital (GHQH), Erode, successfully conducted a Joint Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme on 13 August 2026 at the Conference Hall, 8th Floor, GHQH, Erode.
The CME programme was conducted with the theme “Oncology Principles & Radiation Safety for Doctors”, with the objective of enhancing awareness and knowledge among doctors regarding the principles of cancer care, radiation safety, and multidisciplinary oncology management.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. R. Venkatesh, MD (Paed.), Hospital Superintendent, GHQH, Erode. This was followed by an informative session on “Oncology at Your Doorstep” by Dr. K. Velavan, MD, RT., Managing Director, Erode Cancer Centre.
A key highlight of the programme was the session on “Radiation Safety for Doctors”, delivered by Dr. K. Thayalan, M.Sc., DRP., Ph.D., Adjunct Faculty, IIT Madras. The scientific programme also covered Surgical Oncology Principles, Medical Oncology Principles, Radiation Oncology Principles, Management of Ovarian Cancer in Nullipara, and Decoding Gastric Carcinoma & Its Management.
The sessions were delivered by experienced faculty from various specialties, providing participants with valuable insights into contemporary approaches to cancer diagnosis, treatment, radiation safety, and multidisciplinary patient management. The interactive scientific discussions further enriched the learning experience.
The programme witnessed the participation of doctors and healthcare professionals, reflecting the importance of continuous medical education in strengthening clinical knowledge and improving patient care.
